Mondays & Wednesdays 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

at the Durango Senior Center, Anasazi Room
2424 Main Ave, Durango, CO

Make plans to be the person that YOU want to be and join us for a fun Be Fit Be Able class. Enjoy getting fit with an easy chair workout. You can even roll in with your wheelchair and join us. Our chair workouts allow us to accomplish a myriad of movements with exercise bands on Mondays and with weights on Wednesdays. These Strength and Endurance classes will be the highlight of your week.

We are able to get FIT while maintaining a feeling of safety as we sit in our chairs. Our brain can easily focus on our actual movements and not be worried about falling. Depending on the various movements that we are doing, these chair-based workouts can help us strengthen our core, as well as improve our postural strength. Our balance and range of motion will also be enhanced.

Every month new exercise routines are introduced. We are challenged as we track our progress and strive to persevere. We know that every month we are getting stronger and stronger. We always come prepared with a bottle of water because hydration is a necessary component for our workouts.

The one thing that people can do to address their health issues is to exercise. Health is motion. So make plans to join us and enjoy this new journey to Be Fit and Be Able. We are looking forward to seeing you soon!

Come have some fun working out, getting stronger, and giving back to the community!

Thank you to everyone who was able to attend the 4th annual Be Fit Be Able party.

17 BFBA participants attended as well as 5 other care partners, one of whom was Liz Parmenter from the Senior Center who helped provide transportation. We again enjoyed good food and fun at Dierdre’s beautiful home.

We had a fun time together and celebrated with "The Game of Healthy Eating and Hydrating” with earned gifts for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place winners who accomplished the most workouts from 3Q ’24 - 2Q ’25.

Sonia LaPonza was the 1st place prize winner with 85 workouts. She received the On-the-Go Fitness Box that was loaded with healthy goodies.

Bud and Sandy Beebe were 2nd place winners with their 84 workouts each. They earned the IQ BAR Fruit Lovers Variety pack. These bars are loaded with high protein/fiber with low sugar and plenty of 'Brain Nutrients'.

Dinah Jones was our 3rd place winner with 67 workouts. She earned the IQ Hydration Tropical Pack mix with 3X Electrolytes, Magnesium/Adaptogens and no sugar.

Gerry Vonstroh was the 4th place winner with 60 workouts. He earned the IQ Bar 7 Flavor Sampler. Good protein bars with low sugar and high fiber.

The rest of the team shared the IQ Mix Variety Pack for their accomplishments, with hydration benefits of 3X Electrolytes, Magnesium/Adaptogens and no sugar.

We are looking forward to continuing our times of fun together as we grow our participants and raise more funds for SWCMSS. Please join us when you can.

We enjoyed good food and fun at Dierdre’s home. Plus, this year we were blessed with transportation to and from the Senior Center. Thank you so much Liz Parmenter!

We had a fun time together and celebrated with 'The Game of Fit’ for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and last place newbie winners regarding workout totals from 4Q ’23 - 3Q ’24.
